So the boys want Beef Jerky for their hike on Whitney. Well guess who is online?!
Dougs Quality Meats http://www.dougsqualitymeats.com/index.html
Yeah that's right! So I am ordering it for them.
If you haven't ever had their beef jerky you are missing out boy!
Okay so I can't take all the credit, here's how we know about them.
When we were kids my Dad Ron would get us this beef jerky in our stockings at Christmas.
This was our favorite item right next to the Frangos. We all would not want to open our package for fear that it would be eaten by everyone else. So we had to be tricky about it. Well Dad is still faithful to get us this yummy snack and yes Jason and I get seperate bags. I am a savor each bite kind of a person and Jason could eat his all in one sitting.
THANKS DAD!!! You know what we like :)!

Another One Bites The Dust
As I was driving home from the grocery store today I had to laugh and thank God for His goodness to me.
You know that free cookie that the kids get from the bakery at the store? Well they always offer me one and I never take it. From now on I'm taking it, you know why? Well you see when we get to the store Elijah always says "can we get a cookie?" and I always say sure and then I ask if they do the free cookie thing because one time they told the kids no and there were tears and it was horribly sad. Anyway so each of the kids got a cookie, BTW- the lady opens the whole cookie container in front of Shad and offers him 1 well he has 2 hands to grab with and 2 cookies get touched. She then offers me one and I of course laugh and tell her "no thanks", okay now the kids are happy and so we are off to get the food! Well Elijah is done with his cookie by the middle of the first aisle. I only go down the aisles I know we need stuff on, but if the kids talk to me then I forget something and have to go back down an aisle I have already been down. You know it's hard reading my list and watching 3 kids. I am going as fast as I can so that we can get out of there before things get out of control, because they are bound to with Shad. So I am picking out my produce this is the last food that gets placed in the cart so we are almost done, Hannah is playing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" with Shad because if we keep him happy everyone is happy. Okay we have made it to the check out and I have to be sure the girls takes my $10 off $50 or more coupon and my 25cents coupon off the ziploc bags. The bagger asks if I "need help out " I respond "I would appreciate help out" because I wasn't feeling the "NEED" just would have liked the help. We get in the van and are heading home and the song "Another one bites the dust" comes on the radio, I turn it up. The kids are happy and I am not dead it's all good right? Well I was thinking maybe I should have taken that cookie and shoved it my purse for when Shad was ready to blow. Yeah I'm definitly gonna do it next time. You know it was a good trip to the store, Elijah only fell down once from running, Hannah only pushed Elijah once cuz he wasn't moving fast enough, No one got sassy and no one asked for anything. Yeah it was definitly good that the song that was on was not true to my life at the moment! I also thought WOW nobody is going to send me a thank you card or pat me on the back and tell me I did good today or praise me "Oh Mommy thanks for shlepping us to the store so you could slave over all this food that you will serve us!" But I don't need their thanks or praise because I served my God when I went to the store today and He held me up and just knowing that, is Thanks enough! But I want to thank my Mom for taking me to the store with her and getting the cookie for me and letting me sit under the cart, Oh those days were fun for me and Mom I know they weren't always for you, so THANK YOU!!!!

Differences
Of course each of my children are different, this I know.
For Example:
Scott will eat his sandwich first and leave his fruit for the very last, not even to eat it but to throw it in the trash.
Hannah always begins with her fruit first, because she will always opt to eat it for her snack.
I have always seen the differences in my kiddos but I thought it was interesting to hear yet another difference.
When talking about going to friends' houses Scott would prefer to leave our house and visit someone elses.
Hannah on the other hand, well she would just like to stay home and have a friend come to her place.
This is making for an interesting summer here.
Hannah is doing alot of things that she has not done before like leaving for Summer Camp for 4 days and of course traveling by herself to visit our family in WA she will be gone for almost 2 weeks.
Scott came to me the other day and said "This is the most boring Summer ever! I haven't gone anywhere (I guess Summer Camp for 5 days and Yosemite for 4 days is nothing) all I have been doing is 8 pages of math a day and only getting a half hour on the computer each day and going to bed at 9 o'clock!"
Now as I type this out each child is experiencing something different today,
Scott is enjoying himself out at Zuma beach with his "peeps" and some very (hopefully) responsible youth leaders.
Hannah is at a friends house where the Mom of her friend would like to keep her until Sunday! YIKES!! Jason and I keep laughing, this is not a typical sleepover and she will for sure be coming home on Saturday morning.
I'm sure she is having a good time being out of her house, but she would prefer to have her friend here and Scott is going to come home and be happy for one day that he got to go out and do "nothing" as he will remember it.

To Be or Not To Be
Elijah said to me today while I was making lunch:
"I want to be a dog, but only not when it's a baby."
I replied with curiosity, "Why not when a baby?"
His answer, "Because I would have to suck on the you know what's!"
I wasn't sure if I should remind him that babies nurse from their Mommy's.
So I left it at that and that is what is going on in his mind today at least for a very brief moment.
