Gold, Silver or Bronze

Okay so who hasn't been watching the Olympics??
Well for us who have not had any kind of television for 4 whole years not even broadcast,
We HAVE! So we were at Lowes one night and I grabbed an antenea so that we could watch the Olympics and the Debates with election coverage. So far it has been a blessing and a curse.
Curse - because 2 of my kids have never had televison ever in their lives and cannot pull themselves away from it. They are only allowed to watch PBS
Blessing - because we have soooooo enjoyed watching the Olympics (not the commercials).
They have been so fun and exciting to watch. Yup, I am still as competitive as always! But hey it only comes around every 4 years so that's good.

Also Elijah runs around asking me to watch him and score him. He has yet to get the gold although, I'm not sure what would be gold medal worthy. What's really funny is that he was doing it at church and I am sure people heard us talking about what he got. It's funny to watch him yell at the t.v. with who is ahead and behind and then get totally bummed out when USA doesn't make gold. You should hear him talk trash about China. "Man China doesn't even care about their baby girls but they sure care about those gold medals!" "I can't believe China doesn't even believe in God or allow children to read bibles." He learned all about China at the VBS that he attended this summer. It had an Olympic theme and they collected $ for China so that they could hand out bibles. He's a little sponge with a heart of GOLD!!

Experiences

Life is filled with experiences. Hannah is experiencing being in a state without her parents, she is experiencing independence. Scott just took the dog to the pet store to have her nails clipped, he is experiencing trust, freedom and independence. Shad is eating lunch and he is experiencing a yummy turkey sandwich. Elijah says to me, "I want to experience a broken arm", puzzled at such a comment I said "so you want to experience pain?" he replied, "yeah! I want to know what it feels like."
What can I say other than, HMMMM.

"I Love You"

Since Shad was a tiny little baby he has been told numerous times a day by everyone that he is loved. I was sure that his first words would be "I Love You" but nope it was "IYAH" (Elijah) then came "Dadda", and many other things followed although Momma wasn't last "DOT" (Scott) was. He is talking in little sentences and it's soooo adorable to hear. He even has a "big" voice he uses, aHHHH we just want to eat him up! I have been working on getting him to say "I love you" he has said it but not without alot of work. So my dearest Hannah was working with him last night and YUP, she got him to say "I Wuv ou Mom" it's sooooooooo monsterly cute. All day today I have heard his little mouth saying "I wuv ou Dot, I wuv ou Iyah, I wuv ou Dadda, I wuv ou Mom". Since Hannah has left today she has missed out but I'm sure she will hear him say it to her on the phone when she calls.
And just in case you dont hear "I Love you" very often.....
I LOVE YOU!!!!

A teenager and a two year old

Well today was filled with a few very serious things but some funny things to make us all giggle!
I was helping Scott learn how to make numerous calls to his friends. He wants all his friends to go to the beach on Friday with his youth group Xchange. So he needed to have handy all the info and what he was going to say. He was very uneasy about this task that I had given him so, being his biggest cheerleader I was helping him recite what to say and we practiced many times with each other. Well as I am trying to teach my oldest son how to use the phone with manners, Hannah was playing with the boys in the backyard so it was quiet in the house for Scott to make his calls. We were interrupted a number of times, but one that just cracked us up was when Hannah called, "Mooooom! Shad took off his diaper again!" (this is little habit he has seeing as he wants to potty train but who has time for that) I replied back "It's okay you guys are outside so he'll be fine." She then replied "No it's not okay he's trying to poop in the yard!" Please remember she was outside and I was inside so she was yelling this to me! Our neighbors have just got to love us!

I went to the Dollar Tree and bought soap as I went down every aisle stating to Hannah, "this is my favorite new place to shop". I got to the very last aisle and there they were right before my very eyes, ARMY MEN in 3 different colors just as the boys have dreamt of and been asking for all summer long. I of course feel like it's such a deal, I mean 53 army men for each boy and I will only spend $3. YUP it was a deal! I brought them home and the boys were so elated that Mom could possibly think of them while she was out with Hannah, no not really their dreams just came true they were only thinking of themselves! But none the less they were thrilled!!!
A few hours (yes hours) all three boys are playing and I hear Elijah say to Shad "Shad would you shut up please!" I of course gasped and promptly told Elijah, "Eli we don't say that! That is mean!" He says "But I said "PLEASE"!" Okay I can give him that, he was being polite in his manners . The little stinker.
That's today's funnies!

I'm not counting my chickens until they have hatched!

Friday night Shad didn't sleep well at all. He woke up at 1:46am and I finally had to boot him out of our bed at 3:30am. He was running a slight fever but nothing he needed Motrin for. Anyhow the next day Saturday (our Family Beach Day) he had little red bump like bites on his back and tummy, a few on his legs and some on his face. Only one had a little tiny pin prick head on it, so we weren't sure what was going on. So after much thinking, Fever, rough night, nap at the beach, red dots, maybe it could be a virus! Chicken Pox is a VIRUS!!!
WoW this could be it, my DR. keeps telling me my boys aren't going to get Chicken Pox because they are almost non existent since the vaccine. Which I won't give my boys.
So I am not counting my chickens until they have hatched!
